Old News
Here's a bunch of old news posts in one page, since I don't use a real news system. (Besides this only gets updated about once every century, so what difference does it make?)Test Page 1
11/29/06
Hello everyone! This is how the new homepage is going to look when it's done. I've uploaded this test copy because I'd like to iron out bugs and get feedback before I commit to re-coding the old, nooby pages to this layout. Now, before you say anything, here are the issues I am aware of:
The pages do not render properly in Internet Explorer, AOL Explorer, or any other IE skin.
Internet Explorer has only partial support for CSS standards, and (aside from some missing, redundant color definitions) I followed the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)'s definitions and guidelines for CSS 2.0 and HTML. Apparently IE only supports about 50% of the commands in CSS 2, and I assume getting the pages to render perfectly in Internet Explorer would require tables. I'm sick of tables and frames, so I'm probably not going to bend over backwards making the page render 100% correct in IE.
The only other issue in IE is the shoutbox's iFrame, which exceeds the boundaries of its container. But since it only shows up on the home page, it's not a big deal.
Other than that, the site looks and works fine in IE. If anything it's still more useable than my old homepage. (Tables inside tables inside frames!)
Most of the navigation links at the top lead nowhere.
I know that. Those pages haven't been made yet because the homepage is going to be a template for the article pages.
The boxes on the right are mostly empty.
Of course! I'm still trying to figure out what goes in there.
That's about it! If you have any compaints/suggestions/ideas etc... please tell me via email or the forums (here or at benheck.com)
Thanks for your help!
